LibriVox recording of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
The novel tells of a young man named Dorian Gray, the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is impressed by Dorian’s beauty and becomes infatuated with him, believing his beauty is responsible for a new mode in his art. Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, a friend of Basil’s, and becomes enthralled by Lord Henry’s world view. Espousing a new hedonism, Lord Henry suggests the only things worth pursuing in life are beauty and fulfillment of the senses. Realizing that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses his desire to sell his soul to ensure the portrait Basil has painted would age rather than himself. Dorian’s wish is fulfilled, plunging him into debauched acts. The portrait serves as a reminder of the effect each act has upon his soul, with each sin displayed as a disfigurement of his form, or through a sign of aging. This reading uses the 20-chapter 1891 version of Wilde’s novel. (Summary by Wikipedia)

The reading is OK--not great. I have no major objections to particular readers as another reviewer did, but only a few were very good.

an answer to that awful review
I really hope you are volunteering to read for LibriVox, because if you do, you'll realise how hard it is to get a role claimed... especially a role as big and complicated as this one.
And please do bear in mind that LV volunteers are not professional voice actors, just plain volunteers who have had a little time and courage to share their voice and tell a story.
Great job everyone.

Algy Pug actually destroyed all the hard work of so many excellent professionals!
How could you let such a reader to such a part?
Half of the book is paid to the describing of how young, pleasant, charming, etc. Dorian Gray is, and the reader in his turn does not represent a glimpse of it while reading. I adore most of the others, but when I heard Algy Pug’s voice, I just turned off the recording in disappointment.
I did not mean to be unkind or to annoy; I just want to advice the creators of the audio never to make such a fault again, for they will lose a great number of listeners if they do.
Lowest rating to Algy Pug, highest rating to all the rest! No rating.

Although I'm not a fan of the narrator's frequent over inflection, the read was good and most of the characters well done.
